The role
As a Waterfront Engineering Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This is an exciting opportunity for a leader with a passion for safety, engineering excellence, and effective team management in a highly complex environment.
As the Waterfront Engineering Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day management of the Waterfront Engineering teams, ensuring tasks are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. You will be responsible for ensuring that all stakeholders are kept closely aligned and for deputising for the Waterfront Facility Manager and Waterfront Operations Manager when required.
Day-to-day, you'll excel in the following areas:
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead and manage the Waterfront Engineering teams (AC26 and AC28), ensuring the highest levels of performance, safety, and morale.
- Operational Efficiency: Assist the Waterfront Facility Manager in maximising resource utilisation and efficiency across the section.
- Project Delivery: Oversee the completion of tasks in accordance with cost, time, and quality requirements.
- Safety & Risk Management: Implement and uphold the HMNB Clyde Safety, Security, Quality, and Environmental policies in all Waterfront Engineering activities, promoting a culture of safe working practices.
- Asset Management: Manage both day-to-day maintenance and the long-term Through Life Management of the Waterfront Facility.
- Nuclear Safety Representation: Act as a Facility Manager's representative at Nuclear Safety Committees and support the WFM as required.
This role is full time 37.5 hours per week and is based at Faslane, Helensburgh. This role provides an option for hybrid working arrangements with at least 3 days days onsite.
Essential experience of the Waterfront Engineering Manager
- Engineering Expertise: A deep understanding of Waterfront Engineering Systems, equipment, and operations, with strong knowledge of relevant KPIs and Nuclear Safety Cases.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, ensuring tasks are delivered with precision and efficiency.
- Safety Focus: Knowledge of COSHH, Safe Systems of Work, risk assessments, and quality assurance standards to drive safety at all times.
- Technical Competence: Competence in planning, budget management (including experience with ISF/SAPS), and business applications such as Success Factors, AMS, Synergy, and more.
Qualifications for the Waterfront Engineering Manager
- A Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- ILM Level 5 or equivalent qualification would be beneficial.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
